The second Mobilfunk-Messwoche.
A federal, state and local government initiative.
Mobile coverage data plays a vital role in helping us improve and expand our network. Ultimately, what matters most is the real, daily experience of the consumers using it. That’s why federal, state, and local governments are teaming up to launch the second nationwide Mobilfunk-Messwoche this year. Take part now, test your network coverage and help us out.
The second nationwide Mobilfunk-Messwoche week starts on 24 June 2026 and runs until 1 July 2026. It takes place throughout Germany.
However, you can always check your network coverage outside of the campaign time frame. Every measurement contributes to improving transparency on network quality.
The aim of the Mobilfunk-Messwoche is to develop a more accurate picture of users’ experiences on mobile communications. There is user data on mobile communications, which the German Federal Network Agency has been collecting for years using the broadband measurement app and presenting the results in a dead zone map (”Funklochkarte”) (Gigabitgrundbuch). The app uses location-based detection to determine whether the user’s end device is connected to a mobile network, and with what technology. However, data is not available for all areas.
In addition, the German Federal Network Agency regularly collects data from mobile network operators about their area coverage using the 2G, 4G and 5G mobile standards, and publishes it (Mobile Network Monitoring). The network operators calculate the supply from the consumers’ perspective for the whole of Germany based on the uniform specifications laid out by the German Federal Network Agency. This information can, however, differ significantly from the reception quality experienced by consumers in real life.
As part of the Mobilfunk-Messwoche, we want to expand upon and improve the existing database by jointly comparing user measurements! The collected data can be used to reveal potential for action and positive developments.
It’s easy. All you need is your smartphone and the German Federal Network Agency ’s “Mobilfunk-Check” app. Just download the app and start collecting network data straight away. There’s no need to register. You can find out more in this video. And the app is here …
To take part in the Mobilfunk-Messwoche, you need a smartphone with a compatible operating system, access to the Apple App Store or Google Play Store, and an active SIM card or e-SIM in your device. You don’t need to have the latest smartphone, but it must be able to install and use the app – although this usually isn’t a problem.
